Mindfulness is an altered state of reality; it is an adjustment to the density of physical reality. The “density” is the negative aspects of our environment that affect us, whether it is the person next to us or the abused meat that fills the sandwich in our lunch box. The objective of mindfulness is to achieve an enlightened state that will allow us to prosper; one method is to release the negative aspects that weigh us down. By setting aside time each day to acknowledge this “density” and acknowledge that we are not enlightened beings we are able to progress, with grace and humility we are able to encourage natural life force streams to enter our lives. A life of compassion comes a little bit closer.
A simple exercise that will help with focus and will help calm the mind is to decide on a time and place each day where two minutes can be set aside, These two minutes will be dedicated to oneself. Our ancient ancestors dedicated a day of each week to various Gods/Goddesses/Deities and the seventh day, (Saturday) was dedicated to self, such was their appreciation for oneself.
To dedicate or sacrifice two minutes of every day for one purpose is not such a difficult thing to do, to do this for two weeks and the natural life force streams that surround us, that enhance our lives will become noticeable. Once they have become obvious it is easy to encourage them to become a part of our daily life. After two weeks increase this personal dedication time by one minute per week for another 13 weeks so you finish with a fifteen minute daily dedication to oneself.
Sit or lie down and relax, know that you are safe, know that nothing is going to interrupt the next two minutes, the phones have been turned off, no visitors are expected, no interruptions are expected and you are totally completely safe. Stretch a little, flex the strained muscle or muscles and make yourself comfortable.
Bring your hands together in front of you so all the fingertips are together, and relax.
Close your eyes, and visualise yourself there relaxed. This is all about you being relaxed in a safe place with no worries. Any thoughts that come into your head and disturb the image of you watching over yourself tap your index fingers together and reintroduce the image allow whatever thought that came into your head to pass, just relax and enjoy this moment of you watching you relaxed.
After about two minutes open your eyes and stretch and resume your day safe in the knowledge that two minutes has been dedicated to you and your prosperity.
