Salamander is the master of alchemy, using energy when it needs to. It will adapt to its surroundings and only move when it needs: to hunt, to eat, to procreate. In many ways it is living the perfect life. If existence can be described as living?
Salamander is the master of disguise, capable of the perfect camouflague. It adapts to the surroundings it is in, in colour and body temperature. It is the perfect invisible companion.
Salamander has mastered good health, and will simply regenerate when afflictions take hold. If it loses a limb it will grow another one.
Salamander is the subject of many an urban myth because of the secrets it keeps, and because it is difficult to study. Its very survival depends on remaining invisible.
Salamander has much to teach us, providing science with incredible information relating to stem cell regeneration, long life and reducing old age.

Salamander has been recorded many times as walking out of the fire, away from the flames unharmed. Like the hedgehog it does not do drama, it gets on with life leaving the drama for other people to deal with. New beginnings holds no fear for Salamander because it is confident in adapting to whatever comes its way.

Capable of regrowing lost limbs, it knows how to pick a fight and when to walk away. It has been known to drop a wriggling tail for predators, while it camouflagues itself and moves on. Its predator is left with the distraction,  whilst the Salamander lives to see another day and will begin re-growing its new tail within days.

Salamander is a fire animal, proud, egotistical, happy to stand on its own. It doesn't bide well with fools and doesn't do tolerance, to tolerate is to accept. Salamander would rather change the circumstance so it does not have to tolerate. Fire is linked to ego and rage, the power of a volcano is devastating. The power of the salamander is warmth, it can bring light to the darkest corner, protection to the darkest places. 

Brigid the triple goddess, of animals, healing and smithery, reminds us of the heat of the flames to bring healing to horses by forging new shoes, the burning of ego to promote humility, selfishness replaced with passion, ignorance with curiosity.
The Salamander being the alchemist knows that fire is both the inspirer and the destroyer, Earth, Wind, Fire and Water will help create the strongest of steel. It is wisdom and knowledge that tempers the flames.
