Spells

Bruce Clifton
When people mention a spell the immediate image that comes to mind is probably cackling witches in pointy hats, black gowns gathering around a steaming couldron. Well this is probably one way of creating a spell. :)

So what is a spell?           "A spell is a weaving of energies sent out into the cosmos to produce a desired effect."
What does it do?              "It concentrates and brings focus to an intention."
How do we use it?            "For the greater good."

If we create a cake using the correct ingredients with the correct amounts then we will have created something that everybody will enjoy. If we use the wrong ingredients or incorrect amounts of the ingredients then the cake will appeal to lesser amounts of people. If we don't cook it correctly then even less people will like it and if we get it totally wrong then it will probably end up in the bin. With the end result being a tragic waste of energy and resources.

The desired effect of the spell? What it is we want to accomplish. Lets create a spell for sleep for a loved one. But first think about why we want them to sleep, for rest, peace, to be energised for the morning, because they are ill and need to sleep it off.
This spell is going to be for a good nights quality sleep so we need to some ingredients.

Amethyst Crystal, a pure white candle, some lavender or lavender essential oils, a feather.

The Amethyst is a soothing crystal that settles energies. Its natural energies bring reassurance and calm, it helps release addictive patterns and contributes towards opening up to outside influences.

We are going to compliment the Amethyst with a six hour white candle, white because of the purities involved. White is a safe colour, a neutral colour that will compliment most spell work and enhance the intent, a six hour candle because we want the spell to work for six hours.

Lavender is one of those flowers that is multipurpose, from its appearance, to it's scent, it's oils and it's natural presence. it is used for so many things but today we want it for it's spiritual calming values, it's colour is going to work well with the Amethyst along with it's calming aroma and and it's known qualities for dispersing insomnia.

Lastly we have the feather, ideally it would be great if it was a feather from a nocturnal bird, to have an owls feather with all of it's wisdom would be an almost surety that this spell would work, today is a general spell that will work because of the intent provided.

Now we have the ingredients, we need the intent. This needs some thought. The intent is to provide "Jenny" with a good nights sleep so that she is totally invigorated and ready for her meeting tomorrow.

Now we have the intent let us use the feather to create some clean space, so hold the feather and use it to gently sweep the air around the bed, while you do this recite the intention. "I am clearing this air of all outside energies because Jenny is going to have good quality  sleep and is going to be totally invigorated and ready for her meeting tomorrow." After you have purified the airspace around the bed, move around the room and also sweep the air with the feather and recite the intention again.

Next bring in the Amethyst and again use the feather to clear the Amethyst, introduce the Amethyst to the room. Explain to the Amethyst, talk to it and tell it why you wants it help. All you are doing is reciting the intent and introducing the Amethyst for a reason, so state something siimple. "I am introducing you into Jenny's bedroom because it has been cleared of all outside influences and now it is ready for you to do your work, help Jenny to sleep well and give her the sleep she needs to be bright, beautiful and totally prepared for tomorrows events."

Now we have the candle, I suggest a six hour candle but the choice is yours. I only suggest 6 hours as it will be the duration of Jennys sleep. Again as we prepared the room and Amethyst we will prepare the candle. Using the feather brush it and recite the intent, don't just ask the candle but the flame as well. The flame is a guiding light it will light the path and lead the way forward, so ask the flame for guidance. When sleeping we dream so you could possibly ask for Jennies dreams to come true and for the flame to lead her through and to manifest her dreams into realities.

The Lavender has many qualities, to place flowers close by may be impractiical but a dab of essential oils on the pillow would be good, the aroma will aid sleep and will also be the first thing she smells on awakening. But again don't forget to introduce this and cleanse it before setting the intent.

Now we have introduced the four elements of the spell it is time for the magic to begin, Earth (Amethyst) Wind (feather) Water (lavender) Fire (candle) before jenny goes to bed enter the room and recite the intention, use the feather to clear the room of outside energies then light the candle, allow the match to burn itself out, once the candle is lit exit the room and give thanks that all is well. Once jenny enters the room with Jenny being the fifth element, the magic will begin. The power of 5

be well
