Earth Spirit

Key Words:
Equanimity - Equality - Grounded

What is the spiritual meaning of Earth?
The need to be grounded, to become grounded. Equal to all things, all things are equal. Keep calm and carry on.

Why does Earth appear now?
Anxiety or the feeling of helplessness, a lack of perceived control. The reality is far different to the current perception. Earth, Mother Earth, Gaia is a reminder of the stability of a moment… the now moment… any given moment.

How do I call upon Earth Spirit?
To place both feet in the earth and stand in your own space.
To sit with back straight in your own space.
To enjoy the moment and realise the moment is to be enjoyed.

From the East, the Equator and the Southern Hemisphere, Earth is Gold/Yellow and is most powerful when facing the South in Autumn.
Western society and culturally in the northern hemisphere, Earth is to the North and is Green/Brown/Gold, the colours of nature moving through the seasons.
Earth is in the North and promoted by Air in the west, Water in the East, Fire in the South with Spirit influencing the flow of masculine and feminine energy with the seasons as they turn.
For the alchemist, spellcaster, witch, wizard or weavers of energy: Earth brings the time, place and circumstance together as one. Harmony, peace, love, light and heaven is a place on Earth.
The power of a hurricane; a flood; a volcano; the wrath of spirit are met with equanimity by Mother Earth. The first breath of life; first drop of rain; the light that pushes darkness are met equally without favour.

The Tarot is an amazing tool for divination recognised throughout many cultures. Earth is represented by the Pentacles and recognised as feminine by many. The Pentacles originally portrayed by the Pentagram a five-pointed star, with each point representing the five elements widely understood by the western civilisations to be Earth, water, fire, air and spirit. The pentacle is often perceived as a coin of monetary value, whereby its real value is the diagonal lines connecting the elements enshrined in a circle of protection.

Earth and Water are influenced by the moon and the divine feminine, coming from the North and the East. (northern hemisphere) Fire and Air are influenced by the Sun and the divine masculine, coming from the South and the West. When all of these are in alignment and balanced the Aetheric energy surrounding you is in total harmony, this is the point where the impossible becomes possible and time, place and circumstance create their own 'happenance.'

Since the beginning of time the animal kingdom including us have related to the four directions and four elements. Here in the Northern Hemisphere we relate to:
North    / East    /  South  /   West  - Horizontal
Earth   / Water  /    Fire   /    Wind  - Aether
Winter / Spring /  Summer / Autumn – Year
Lunar / Dawn   / Mid- day / Dusk – Horizontal

Earth, Wind, Fire and Water as Elements. We relate the associated directions as North, West, South and East, with the seasons being Winter, Autumn, Summer and Spring.
The natural power we can attune to with natural perception or through meditation, all of us have a natural ability to aspire to be a better person then we were yesterday. The art of alchemy = The transfer of energy we generate to natural.
