Modern Medicine have related the Sacral Chakra to the gonads these being male testes and female ovaries this is a part of our endocrine system. (( Wikipedia ) In physiology the endocrine system is a system of glands, each of which secretes a type of hormone into the bloodstream to regulate the body. The endocrine system is an information signal system like the nervous system.)
The Sacral Chakra works with our desires and needs, once our material needs have been met the desire to reach out and grow, to change and to procreate. We have a necessity to share and it is from the Sacral Chakra that the desires are formed. Promoting self-respect and having the ability to respect others, knowing our own boundaries and being able to uphold our own values. The Sacral Chakra develops from the age of 5 and should be fully developed by the age of 14. The Moon assists the development of this chakra in females with the Sun assisting the males, to nurture and instigate creativity and pleasure. The Sacral Chakra is orange, is above the Root Chakra and level with our belly button, it rotates slightly faster than the Root Chakra but slower than the Solar Plexus. The Sacral Chakra is associated with fulfilled love, commonly misinterpreted as the sex chakra. Our reproductive organs, sexuality and liquid bodily functions correspond with this Chakra. Other names related to the sacral chakra are Spleen, Sex, 2nd, Svadihistana, Swadisthana.
Of our five human senses, exploring the sense of Taste will assist the Sacral Chakra. To use Musk and to enjoy the sensations of this aroma will enhance the positive values attributed to the Sacral Chakra.
A simple breathing exercise that will help locate, balance and harmonise the sacral chakra is to take a quick shallow breath in through the mouth followed by another slightly deeper breath and follow this with another even deeper breath, then breathe out slowly. Repeat this exercise a number of times and the sacral chakra will reveal itself to you as a sensation and slightly higher/faster vibration than the root chakra. It will be level with or just below the belly button.
The Sacral Chakra is paired with the Third Eye Chakra, the Third eye being associated with seeing and foresight, to explore! Whilst the Sacral Chakra is self-exploration and becoming aware of others, the Third eye is for other worlds and dimensions, foresight and beyond. The two complement each other by reminding each of its own limitations whilst encouraging to reach and explore the new territories. Orange reminds us to balance giving and taking to form relationships with who and what is around us.
Moonstone, Rainbow Moonstone and Amber are Crystals that can assist in the development of the Sacral Chakra, Gold for men and Silver for women will assist the individual and calm emotions. Frequent mood swings and volatile emotions can occur during this time of growth.
The ability to be self-aware and to understand our influence on the people and things around us, to be able to feel and the ability to feel the influences of our surroundings and how they affect us will all promote the wellbeing of the sacral chakra.
An unbalanced or dirty Chakra is a potential cause for the body to physically or mentally manifest a variety of illnesses. If medical science is unable to diagnose an underlying cause or if the ailment is random or instant then this is potentially a cause worth considering.
Immorality, low self-esteem, lethargy, bladder problems, uterine infections, impotence, frigidity and hormonal problems can all stem from a poorly maintained Sacral Chakra.
