Heron 4

 Key Words:
Patience – Serenity - Journey

What is the spiritual Meaning or Essence of Heron?
Heron hides in plain sight, standing poised and ready to strike or retreat, but will only be seen once it moves.

Why does Heron appear now?
It could be the noise around you needs to be quiet, Heron is providing the example and is an example of meditative, peace, tranquility, serenity.

How do I call upon Heron?
Imagine Heron in your minds eye and Heron will come.

Heron is a wading bird, it walks the waters edge. The heron will stand poised and ready, waiting patiently for hours at a time for the right opportunity. With a minimum of effort and a calm, serene, graceful movement, it will achieve its goal.
Heron like the Crane is known in ancient circles for its medicinal qualities, the crane provides many physical remedies, whilst the Heron is known for its mental and spiritual guidance. The phrase ‘keep calm and carry on’ is not wasted on this bird. The ability to travel in three worlds is a rarity, land, water, air and spiritually is not something to be ignored.

The legends afforded to the Heron are plentiful, Rihannon is a favoured Celtic legend, with majesty and poise she rode the horse and no matter who chased her she remained in front. A simple request and she would allow the pursuer to catch up. Epona another horsewoman who protected both horse and rider is also linked to the Heron and to this end the Heron provides protection to those that seek, also healing and the ability to see things clearly.

The Heron is a moon tied animal, meaning it is a representation of divine femininity. Both Earth and Water controlled by the moon, Heron brings longevity and perseverance, balance and harmony to any journey travelled. The need to create ripples is unnecessary, the need to feed the ego is lost on this bird. Simple things bring the greatest pleasures, quiet and understanding brings the greatest rewards.

The Heron like an angel will respond to a request, to sit and enjoy its company, quietly without words will reap the most valuable of rewards.
