First Chakra, Root Chakra, Base Chakra, Muladhara.
The First Chakra works with our material needs, our home, food, car, clothes etc. It is when these needs are not met that the first chakra changes size and becomes imbalanced. Moving home or changing our job would be a classic example of what outside influences could affect the first chakra. A perceived threat is the same as an actual threat to be thinking about a career change or moving house will disturb the first chakra this is the point where we can assist the flow of energy by taking remedial steps to maintain its purity, size and balance.
The First Chakra is red and is at the base of the spine, it is the slowest moving of the 7 main Chakras. It is associated with roots coming from our body extending down into the earth other names for this chakra are Root, Base, and traditionally Muladhara.
The first or base chakra is the red influence in our aura, the brighter the glow of red means the safer and more positive we feel, it also reflects the security we feel and are able to project.
Of our five human senses, enjoying the sense of smell will assist this Chakra, to use Patchouli and to enjoy the sensations of this aroma will enhance the positive values attributed to the Root Chakra.
The First Chakra is paired with the Throat Chakra, the throat being associated with mental/spiritual communication whilst the first chakra is physical gesture communication. The two are gentle reminders of humility, each one makes the other more effective.
Ruby, Rose Qtz, Red Jasper are Crystals that can assist in the visualisations of the first chakra, to hold a crystal and to enjoy the purity and the vibration that is unique to the crystal and to then relate it to the first chakra. A crystal placed on your altar or at your bedside during sleeping will aid the vibration and help synchronise the energy flow through the first chakra.
A simple breathing exercise that will help balance and maintain the first chakra is to take a short sharp breath in through the mouth and hold it deep in the pit of the stomach then breathe out slowly, then repeat this exercise two or three times and the first chakra will reveal itself to you as a sensation in the bowl of the pelvis.
The first chakra promotes self-awareness and to understand our right to exist and to be here. Our flexibility and to be stable in our own environment.
An unbalanced or dirty Chakra is a potential cause for the body to physically or mentally manifest a variety of illnesses. If medical science is unable to diagnose an underlying cause or if the ailment is random or instant then this is potentially a cause worth considering.
Constipation, Diarrhoea, Piles, Cold Fingers and Toes, Irregular Menstual Cycle, High Blood Pressure, Impotence, Problems with Hips, Legs, Feet, Sleeplessness.
Mentally: Self Pity, Excessive Worrying, Fearful, Aggressive, Insecurities are some of the ailments caused by an unbalanced or poorly maintained first chakra.
The Positive attributes connected with the first chakra are:
Assertiveness, Courage, Enthusiasm, Strong Will, Pioneering & Leadership qualities.
