The Eel

Bruce Clifton
Key Words:
Emotion - Strength - Endurance

What is the spiritual Meaning or Essence of the Eel?
The spiritual meaning of the eel is one of endurance and perseverence, the eel will only ever move forward. The eel symbolises overcoming all obstacles, moving through and making progress.

Why does the Eel appear now?
The Eel will appear in times of trouble, it has mastered the art of patience, knowing when to wait and when to move forward. It is one of our ancient beings and has evolved into the fish we know it as today, ancient wisdom from many generations is passed down through its lineage.

How do I call upon the Eel?
Patience is an art bestowed upon the eel, it is the eel that will come to you and it is your choice to recognise their energy. They will lead you through any storm and deliver you safely onto a sunsoaked beach.

To dream of the Eel.
Means there is a storm ahead or the storm has passed. The eel will make good use of troubled waters to find its food, to grow in strength, prosper and settle after the storm has passed.

The Eel like a snake can take many forms, the eel lives in both fresh water and sea water, during its life it will undergo a metamphosis to develop into the Eel.

Like the salmon, Eel comes back to the fresh water rivers and lakes
as a part of ancestoral heritage. The evolution of the eel, the ancient ancestors, its heritage is never forgotten. From past life to this life and to carry it forward into the next life, the eel will remember the breeding grounds. It will adapt its form, its colour and remember ancient ritual for breeding and finding a mate. The eel has been known to crawl across fields and meadows to reach the breeding grounds of its ancestors.

The Eel lives a solitary life only seeking company to breed, it is happiest in a fresh water river and is predatory to younger, smaller fish, frogs, carcasses and even small birds. Its ability to blend into natural surroundings makes it very difficult for predators to see and find.

The Eel brings forward strength, masculinity, it can face strong currents with ease and is able to swim against the tide. The Eel symbolises overcoming difficulties and moving through the storm.
The versatility of the Eel also symbolises divine feminity, the beauty and movement of always moving forward never backwards, the ocean or river and the tides and eternal ebb and flow of life, represent the eternal circle of the moon.

If Eel appears in your dreams it is a warning of a storm to come, or one that you have overcome and can relax. The strength of the eel will allow you to move on and be successful in all your endeavours. Allow the energy of the eel to lead you forward to safety or success.

The ancient wisdom from the eel comes from old age and generations that have lived before, Some species of eel are capable of living more than 100 years in this life. The secret of its old age is simplicity, it lives a single solitary life and is happy to do so. It enjoys company to reproduce and ensure its continual survival. The life of the hermit is one of wisdom, independence, peace and self love.
